Obituary

WIEGAND, Margaret E., age 87 of Hamilton died Friday, January 9, 2009, at Fort Hamilton Hospital. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on December 30, 1921, the daughter of George and Josephine (Langhorst) Beer, and was a 1939 graduate of Notre Dame High School. On January 19, 1944, in St. Stephen Church, she married Jerome J. Wiegand, and he preceded her in death on November 18, 1994. Mrs. Wiegand was a member of St. Peter in Chains Parish, and Rosary Altar Society. With her husband Jerry, she co-founded the St. Peter's Friday night bingo, and ran the concessions for over thirty years. She and her husband we members of many card clubs. She was the World's best chocolate chip cookie baker.

Survivors include a son, Dan (Susie) Wiegand); a daughter, Becky (Bill) Schafer, both of Hamilton; eight grandchildren, Connie (Charles) Perme, Carrie (Richard) Klus, Carl (Johanne) Schick, Jason (Kristin) Wiegand, Nancy Wiegand, Kylee (Andrew) Thiel; Brad Schafer, and Jerry Schafer; eight great-grandchildren, Maggie and Sean Perme, Marcy, Jessica, Adam, and Libby Klus, Austen, Alexabelle Schick.

Besides her husband Jerry, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Schick on November 19, 1972, and she was a huge influence in the upbringing of Nancy's three young children. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Carl, George, Elmer, and Robert Beer; and a sister, Mary Wehr.

Prayers will be offered at 9:30 am Wednesday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am Wednesday in St. Peter Church, with Rev. Timothy Bunch celebrant. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8:00pm Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Church.
