Obituary

BRUNNER, Mark E. age 89 , a longtime Fairfield resident, currently residing at Mercy Franciscan at Schroder, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006, at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield. He was born in Hamilton, OH on Aug. 29, 1916, the son of Frederick and Magdalene (Lenz) Brunner and was a 1934 graduate of Hamilton Catholic High School. On May 6, 1950, in St. Veronica Church, he married the former Martha M. Stock and she preceded him in death on Jan. 29, 1991. He served in the U.S. Army, during WWII, receiving the Purple Heart. He was postal worker for the U.S. Postal Service, for 35 years, retiring in 1978. Mark was a member of St. Ann Church where he had been permanent deacon for the past 27 years. He was an active member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and the adult choir, as well as membership in the V.F.W. # 1069.

Survivors include 2 sons, Mark E. Jr. and wife Cathy Brunner, and Michael E. and wife Marianne Brunner, all of Cincinnati; a daughter, Mary Angela and husband Randel Clark, of Deer Park; 7 grandchildren, Angela (Tim) Osborne, Rebecca, Emily, Joseph, and Daniel Brunner, Adrienne and Matthew Clark.

Besides his wife; he was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Frederick and Stanley Brunner; 2 sisters, Rose Wilson and Frances Martin.

Prayers will be offered at 9:30AM Monday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM Monday in St. Ann Church. Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00PM Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Ann's St. Vincent DePaul Society.
