Mark Joseph
Staarmann
April 25, 1933 – November 3, 2024
Mark J. Staarmann age 91 formerly of Hamilton currently residing in Fairfield Township passed away Sunday November 3, 2024 at his home. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on April 25, 1933 the son of George T. and Agnes (Jung) Staarmann. On September 8, 1956, in St. Joseph Church, he married Jeanette L. Kollstedt and she preceded him in death on August 28, 2022. Mark had worked as a Tool and Die Supervisor for Fisher Body Hamilton Plant for 30 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Ann Church and the K of C Father Butler Council.
Survivors include his children, Timothy (Michelle) Staarmann, Mindy (Matt) Jurgens, Patrick (Michelle) Staarmann and John (Meranda) Staarmann; grandchildren, Ashley Davis, Alex, Connor, Grant and Brandon Staarmann, Nick and Will Jurgens; great grandchild Abbie; three sisters-in-law, Maureen Kollstedt, Betty and Mary Jo Staarmann.
Besides his wife, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, George and Vince Staarmann; two sisters, Mary Lou Roberts and Patricia Betz.
Mark had a love for music and learned to play the piano at an early age. He played for over 40 years in local music groups and was a member of the Dick Roberts Dixieland band, playing music many Friday and Saturday nights. Mark never knew a stranger, his family often commented that it didn't matter where they were, someone would invariably come up and recognize Mark to say hello. He enjoyed traveling with Jeanette, and spent time with friends and family in Gatlinburg, TN and Hilton Head Island. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and playing his favorite card game "Pitch". Many fond memories were enjoyed at one of his favorite spots, Drummond Island, Michigan. He was a dedicated parishioner of St. Ann catholic church in Hamilton OH, spending countless hours helping usher church services, working Bingo evenings, helping with church festivals and generally doing anything that was needed. It is with no coincidence that on Sunday, November 3, the day Mark was called home, the gospel reading for mass was from his namesake; Mark 12:28-34 "The Lord our God is Lord alone! You shall love the Lord your God with, all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. And You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Mark truly lived this and now is reaping his just rewards in heaven! The family would like to thank the wonderful aides at StoryPoint and Queen City hospice for their loving care for Mark, affectionately known as "Dad". Also a special thank you to the many friends who Mark enjoyed time with, especially the Ferdelman, Mignery and Weber families
