Obituary

COLSON, Martha L. 93, of Hamilton, died Sunday, October 9, 2005, at Westover Retirement Community. She was born September 28, 1912, in Ljusdal, Sweden, the daughter of Marten and Ida Margareta (Karlsson) Persson. In 1928 she moved with her parents to Chicago, IL, and there in 1934 she was married to James Frank Colson. He preceded her in death in 1988. Together with her parents she owned and operated restaurants in Chicago and Geneva, IL. After moving to Fairfield in 1967 she was employed by Lenhardt's Restaurant in Cincinnati. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she belonged to the Mission Sewing group, and the Fairfield Senior Citizens. Besides cooking and baking, Martha enjoyed all the needle arts, especially sewing, knitting, weaving, needlepoint and embroidery. She also served as a Girl Scout leader. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and David D. Schul of Hamilton; two grandsons, Dr. David E. (Catherine) Schul of Delaware, OH, and James C. Schul of Dayton, OH; and two great-granddaughters, Molly and Maria Schul. In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Charles Schul, in 2001.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 15, at 2:00PM, at the Yurs-Wittenberg Funeral Home, Geneva, IL, with visitation from 1:00-2:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Geneva, IL. Proeschel-Crawford- Zettler Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Westover Retirement Community, or Hospice of Hamilton. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Christopher Meier, Westover Retirement
