Obituary

ANTES, Mary Margaret (Sanders) age 98 entered into eternal life on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Heritagesprings in West Chester. She was born on February 7, 1915, to Herman L. and Mary Margaret (Beer) Sanders. Mary was baptized and attended elementary school at St. Peter in Chains in Hamilton, Ohio. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy and from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1936.

On April 3, 1937, she married Eugene J. Antes. Mary and Gene owned and operated Hilltop Market in Hamilton for many years. Together they were parents to eleven children. She was also active as a teacher in the CCD program and Eucharistic Ministry at St. Peter Church, and was president and active in the Altar Rosary Society. Mary also volunteered in the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, American Legion, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, Notre Dame Alumni, Senior Citizens, and Widowed Persons Club.

Mary resided at Mercy Franciscan-Schroder until the past year. At the time of her death, she was a resident of Heritagesprings in West Chester.

She is survived by her children, Eugene (Rose) Antes, Ron (Joyce) Antes, Margaret Bell, Barbara (Thomas) Lutz, Anne Capella, Christine (Jim) Walpole, Jack (Marilyn) Antes, Therese Antes Quoss, Janice (Jim) Kremer, and Dolores Antes; thirty-three grandchildren; forty-four great-grandchildren; a sister, Charlotte Reimer; many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; a daughter, Bernadette; two grandchildren, Lindsey Quoss and Mark Walpole; sons-in-law, Richard Bell and Richard Capella; three brothers, Richard, Herman, and Mark Sanders; three sisters, Thelma Atkinson, Clara Blanchard, and Elaine Brashear.

Mary and her family want to thank the many caregivers at Mercy-Schroder and Heritagesprings of West Chester, caregivers from Hospice of Southwest Ohio, St. Susanna Catholic Church Eucharistic Ministers, and all those whose kindness made a difference to Mary in her long life.

Prayers will be offered at 10:00am Saturday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am Saturday in St. Peter in Chains Church. Visitation will be from 9:00am-10:00am Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church in Mary's name or to the charity of choice. Zettler Funeral home is serving the family.
