BECKEL, Norma G. age 85 of Fairfield died Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Birchwood Care Center. She was born in Fixer, Kentucky on November 14, 1924, the daughter of Ory and Lona (Johnson) Sparks. On October 8, 1945, in Indiana she married William J. Beckel, and he preceded her in death on April 24, 1963. Norma was a certified psychiatric aide working on the children's ward at Millcreek Psychiatric Center for seventeen years. She was a member of the Horseshoe Bend Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Billie Simon of Georgia, Evonnia Gail (Thomas) Hale of Hamilton; a son, William R. (Christine) Beckel of Fairfield Township; seven grandchildren, Tom, Traci, Angie, Rodney, Derrick, Misty, Travis; nine great-grandchildren, Christopher, Marc, Leslie, Brianna, Sean, Kyle, Logan, Christian, and "Baby Simon"; a sister, Evonnia (William) Garner of Cincinnati; two brothers, Ory R. Sparks Jr. of Middletown, and Edmund Sparks of Muncie, Indiana; many nieces, nephews, and good friends.

Besides her husband William, she is also preceded in death by a sister, Remona Keith; a brother, Garnie Sparks.

Funeral Services will be offered at 11 am Tuesday at the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave with Brother Tye officiating, followed by burial in Arlington Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8:00 pm in the funeral home. Online register book available at www.zettlerfuneralhome.com
