SCHMIDT, Paul A. age 85 of Hamilton died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Garden Manor. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on May 4, 1927, the son of John and Matilda (Lamke) Schmidt and he attended St. Ann School and Hamilton Catholic High School. On May 9, 1953, in North College Hill he married Ruth M. Koehler and she preceded him in death on July 23, 1995. He was owner and distributor for Standard Oil Company of Ohio for fifty years, retiring in 1991. Mr. Schmidt was a member of St. Ann Church and Knight of Columbus Father Butler Council # 968. He was an avid sports enthusiast as well as a huge Reds fan. Paul enjoyed playing Santa for his grandchildren and friends.

Survivors include two children, Luanne (Ray) Gammell of Speedwell, TN, and Paul D. (Debbie) Schmidt of Fairfield Township, Ohio; five grandchildren, William Gammell, Christopher Sizemore, Sally Chynoweth, Molly and Megan Schmidt; four great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, Ruth, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Norbert and Raymond F. Schmidt; two sisters, Marcella Foley and Norma Cavin.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am Monday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. with Fr. Larry Tharp officiating, followed by burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm Sunday in the funeral home. Online register book available at www.zettlerfuneralhome.com
