IRWIN, Phyllis J., age 74 former longtime Fairfield resident, died Friday April 10, 2009 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, She was born in Columbus, Ohio on February 4, 1935 the daughter of Earl and Della (Marshall) Strait and was a graduate of South High School, in Columbus, Ohio. On June 11, 1955 in St. Laudislas Church, Columbus, Ohio, she married Thomas P. Irwin and he preceded her in death on August 8, 1996. She had been a member of St. Ann Church. Phyllis primarily was a homemaker, but had worked for many years at Mercy Hospital of Hamilton and Fairfield, as well as for the City of Fairfield.
Survivors include, five sons, Kevin (Jill), Joseph (Lisa), Daniel, Mark, and Paul (Kirsten) Irwin; two daughters, Amy and Pamela Irwin; thirteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Charlotte Glick and Jean Anne King; a brother, Raymond Strait; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by three sons, Shawn, Stephan, and Thomas Irwin; a sister, Pricilla Erwin.
Prayers will be offered at 10:30am Thursday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am Thursday in St. Ann Church with Fr. Stephen Mondiek celebrant. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery. Online register book available at www.zettlerfuneralhome.com
