Obituary

On December  18th 2024, Raymond Schul returned home to God after a two year illness.

He was born on September 18, 1942 in Hamilton Ohio, the son of Albert and Ruth Schul.

He graduated from Hamilton Catholic High School in 1960, Iona college in New York, and received a Master's in Psychology from Seattle University, spoke and taught five languages, and also held a PHD in theology.

He was a language and religion teacher in several schools including Brother Rice High School in Chicago Ill. where he also was the track and field coach who took his teams to state Championships within two years of taking over coaching. He was inducted into the school's coach's hall of fame in 2014.

He was an avid reader especially of history and collected a large number of history books in many languages. He loved music and studied classical dance in his youth. He loved to dance, grow his red roses and oranges, loved sports, especially basketball, Ohio State football, and driving around in his vintage Cadillac.

For twenty years he was a student guidance counselor at Palm Springs High School where he positively impacted the lives of hundreds of students. He considered their success his greatest achievement.

He was an out spoken advocate for children and children's' rights and safety his entire life, even when that advocacy cost him in his professional life.

He leaves behind his sister, Katheen Schul Torello, two nephews, Christopher (Mimi) Torello, Daniel (Sherry) Torello, one great nephew, Aden Torello, and many friends both local and across the country.
