Obituary

Richard (Rick) Thomas Alatorre, 52, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 17, 2018, at the Westland Rehabilitation Center in Michigan. He leaves behind his wife, Annette Ramga-Alatorre (Lincoln Park MI); his father, Dr. Salvador Alatorre and wife, Joy Kappers-Alatorre (Hamilton OH); and his six siblings and their families: his sister Carmen Alatorre-Martin (Occoquan VA), brother Salvador Alatorre (St. Louis MO), brother Luis Alatorre (South Pasadena FL), brother David Alatorre (Hamilton OH), sister Trish Alatorre-Ridings (Vienna VA), and brother Daniel Alatorre (Lutz FL).

Rick was born in Hamilton, attended grade school at St. Stephen's and St. Julie's before going to Stephen T. Badin High School. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Communications/Broadcasting from Ohio University, and soon after joined the American Red Cross. Rick thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the Red Cross, working national disasters in several states as a Disaster Director. Although he performed many tasks with numerous responsibilities, he most enjoyed managing disaster response and media relations, and did this for over 23 years. Before his illness, Rick became an independent contractor in transportation for four years (2008-2012). Since 2013 has been the Founder and Owner of his own company, Alatorre Imagery, a photography hobby he loved. Throughout all of his careers, Rick was an excellent and nurturing mentor and teacher.

Rick is preceded in death by his mother, Vivian Lampe Alatorre (1994) and his nephew Jason Nathaniel Alatorre-Martin (1992), as well as his uncle Gerald Lampe (2011), his cousin Rachel McGrath, grandparents on his mother's side, and grandparents on his father's side.

Rick fought a courageous battle with cancer, never giving up, and working hard to make others comfortable.  He was witty, great at telling stories and making people laugh. He was a boisterous, fun-loving, and generous soul. Rick will be missed very much.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30pm Friday, November 30, 2018, in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave, Hamilton Ohio, followed by burial in St. Stephen Cemetery. Friends may visit from 12:30-1:30pm Friday at the funeral home. Rick asked that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local American Red Cross, specifically for vehicle maintenance.
