MASSIE, Richard L. age 82, beloved husband and best friend of Lozella Massie, died Friday, February 15, 2013 at University Hospital , Cincinnati , Ohio . He was born in Hamilton , Ohio on March 12, 1930 the son of Loyal and Ruth (Miller) Massie and was a 1948 graduate of Hamilton High School . Richard was a veteran of the US Air force serving in Greenland and retired in 1986 after thirty four years as a Manager from AT&T . On May 5, 1989 in Hamilton , Ohio he married Lozella Craig.
Survivors include his wife, Lozella; two children, Rick (Darlene) Massie of Fairfield, Ohio, Pamela (Jim) Detzel of Cincinnati, Ohio; two step children, David (Amy) Hale of South Orange, New Jersey, and Deborah Kidwell, of Highland Heights, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Ashley Hatfield, Brittany Dyce, Lyndsay Detzel, Bryan and Cameron Hale; a great granddaughter, Destinee Hale; two sisters, Patricia (Dave) Rhodes of South Carolina, and Cheryl L. Ash of Madison, Indiana; a brother, Donald (Kim) Massie of Bellbrook, Ohio.
Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother, William Massie; and many aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Thursday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. with Robert and Michael Massie officiating followed by burial in Rose Hill Burial Park .
