SNYDER, Richard F., age 85 of Hamilton, died Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at Hospice of Hamilton in Sunrise Assisted Living Center. He was born in San Bernardino, California on December 17, 1922 the son of Frank and Frances (Johns) Snyder. In 1947 he married Oma Agee and to this union six children were born. He married Nancy Scales in 1977 and she preceded him in death in 2002. Mr. Snyder served in the US Navy, during WWII and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He had worked as a stationary engineer for the Hamilton Municipal Power Plant, for over thirty-four years, retiring in 1981. A member of the St. Julie Billiart Parish, he also was a member of the Liberty Home Association and the Germania Society. A devoted family man, he made sure his family enjoyed life to the fullest.
Survivors include six children, Robert (Karen) Snyder, Mary Ann Davis, Carol (Norb) Grant, Richard (Georgette) Snyder, and Diana (Juan) Macias, all of Hamilton, Terry (Rusty) Carter, of Mobile, Alabama; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a sister, Betty Mae Hauser; a brother Don Snyder, both of California; three step children, Richard (Jean) Rust , Steven (Becky) Rust, and Sandra (Ben) Morris; six step grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wives, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Snyder.
Prayers will be offered at 1:30pm Friday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00pm Friday in St. Julie Billiart Church. Visitation will be from 5-7:00pm Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Butler County Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hamilton.
