SUNNENBERG, Richard A. age 87 of Fairfield passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Fairfield. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 1, 1931, the son of Joseph and Mae Sunnenberg and was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. On February 25, 1954, in Anniston, Alabama he married Patricia L. Carroll and she preceded him in death on January 10, 2012. Richard was a member of Sacred Heart Church, an Auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary, the American Legion Post #199, and the Knights of Columbus #3227.

Survivors include five children, Sheila (Tom) Munafo-Kanzoa, Jennifer (Francis) Lutterbie, Richard (Rhonda) Sunnenberg, Bridget (Brian) Haverland, and Kris (Brandy) Sunnenberg; seventeen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren, with one great-grandchild on the way; two sisters, Mary Breving and Virginia Spaulding; sister-in-law, Nancy Meyer; son-in-law, Jerry Schrock.

Besides his wife, Patricia, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Julie E. Schrock; a brother; Robert Tucker; a sister, Shirley Hickey

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Tuesday in Sacred Heart Church 400 Nilles Rd. Fairfield, Ohio with Fr. Larry Tharp celebrant, followed by burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11:00am Tuesday in the church's Narthex (lobby).  Zettler Funeral Home Inc. is serving the family.
