ALSTON, Robert G. age 88 of Hamilton passed away Wednesday July 5, 2017 at the Jamestown Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on July 6, 1928 the son of Gordon W. and Gertrude (Warburg) Alston and served in the US Air Force from 1951 through 1955. Bob was a 1946 graduate of Hamilton Catholic High School and a 1951 graduate of Xavier University. He worked as a teacher for Hamilton City Schools retiring in 1985. In summers he ran the Eastview swimming pool and in retirement ran the Hamilton Sports Arena. A member of St. Joseph church and the finance committee of the church, he also was a member of the Butler County Basketball Officials Association, the Butler County Sports Hall of Fame, and the Badin High School Sports Hall of Fame.

Survivors include his wife Audrey; two children, Duane Alston of Denver, Colorado, and Bobbi Sue (David) Frazier of Hamilton; three grandchildren, Kimberly (Kevin) O'Bryan, Jeremy (Claire) Frazier, and Amy (Dennis) Ullery; three great grandchildren, Ed, Bob, and Audrey Frazier; two great grandchildren not yet born, baby O'Bryan and baby Ullery; his beloved dog Nippy.

Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ann Alston and Dorothy Zettler.

Prayers will be offered at 9:30am Monday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am Monday in St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00pm Sunday in the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph School.
