Obituary

BRUNER, Robert E., age 83 of Hamilton, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2006, at his home. He was born on January 23, 1923 to the late Stephen and (Marie Ehle) Bruner, in Hamilton Ohio. A 1940 graduate of Hamilton Catholic High School, Bob also attended the University of Cincinnati, majoring in business administration.

Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. He attained the rank of Master Sergeant and was awarded the croix de guerre with the Bronze Star by the French government and returned to the U.S. in 1946. Bob was in the insurance business for 40 years, retiring from the Ohio Casualty in 1988 as an officer of the company. Bob was a very active citizen of the Hamilton community, serving on the Miami River Low Level Dam Committee, the Hamilton Bicentennial Committee, and the Holiday Walk Group. He was also a proud member of the Hamilton City Parks Com¬mission and an ambassador for the Greater Hamilton Chamber of Commerce. He was a life member of the Hamilton Elks and the Knights of Columbus Father Butler Council.

Married to the former Jeanne Sanders on October 12, 1946, the couple enjoyed nearly 60 years of marriage. In addition to his beloved wife, Jeanne, Bob will be missed by his chil¬dren Janice (Tim) Finan; Cay (Steve) Wittman; Marysue (Dean) Wright, Anne (Jerry) Bur¬ney, Robert S. (Diana) Bruner, grandchildren Molly (Joe) Straka, Andy Finan, Josh (Amy)
Wright, Julie (Chris) Trusock, Karen (Shane) Gregory, Jason Wright, Katie (Matt) Renners, Nate Wright, Jeana Burney, Kristen Burney, Sarah Bruner, and Jennifer Bruner; great grand¬children, Austin and Brendan Ray and Cameron Gregory; Maggie, Ally and Drew Wright; Emma and Lauren Trusock; Elyse Straka and Abby Renners. He is also survived by his sib¬lings, Frances (the late Donald) Hoffman, Jack (Lois) Bruner, Dolores (Don) Wade, Stephen (Jeanine) Bruner; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

Prayers will be offered at 9:30AM Thursday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., followed by Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 AM Thursday in St. Peter in Chains church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9PM Wednesday in the funeral home.
