GONYA, Robert B. age 80 of Fairfield passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at his home. He was born in Payne, Ohio on December 7, 1937, the son of Bernard and Catherine (Linder) Gonya and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. On May 14, 1960, in St. John the Baptist Church in New Haven, Indiana he married Sally J. Stewart. Robert was a member of St. Ann Church, past member of the Lions Club, and the Knights of Columbus Father Butler Council.

Survivors include his wife, Sally; seven children, Deborah Golden, Timothy (Lisa) Gonya, Kathryn (Donald) Urmston Jr, Brenda (Greg) Davis, Angie (Matt) Miller, Christopher (Stephanie) Gonya, and Sarah (Adam) Sackenheim; twenty-two grandchildren, Jennifer, Matthew, Amanda, Evan, Joshua, Samantha, Rebecca, Megan, Abbey, Robert, Alexis, Ashley, Emily, Michael, Olivia, Jacob, Nicholas, Josephine, Sophia, A.J., Emmett, and Owen; twelve great-grandchildren, Isabella, Gus, Emmie, Leo, Siena, Harrison, Esme, Madilyn, Finnley, Lakin, Isla, Maxwell and three on the way; a brother, Michael (Louise) Gonya; four sisters, Marianne Clark, Kathleen (Phil) Fry, Carol (Stan) Schwartz, and Nancy (Tom) Barker

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert E. Gonya; two brothers, Bill and John Gonya.

Prayers will be offered at 9:30am Monday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am Monday in St. Ann Church with Fr. Larry Tharp celebrant. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8:00pm Sunday in the funeral home.
