HAHN, Robert J., age 85 of Kalamazoo, Michigan, died Monday December 22, 2008 in the Springs of Bronson, Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on August 27, 1923, the son of Robert J. and Julia (Connor) Hahn and served in the US Army, in the mortar battalion, during WWII. On June 18, 1959, he married Gabriele Puetter. Robert was employed as a History Professor at Western Michigan University, for thirty-two years, retiring in 1993. He was an active member of the Alliance Francaise and served as President of the local chapter for more than ten years.
Survivors include his wife, Gabriele; four children, Robert John Hahn III, Christine Gabriele Ruth Hahn, Sigrid Gabriele Julia Hahn, and Nicolette Gabriele Katherine Hahn; four grandchildren, Emma, Bo, Verdiana, and Max; two nephews and their families; one sister-in-law.
Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother, John C. Hahn.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, December 27, 2008 in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave., with Fr. Stephen Mondiek officiating followed by burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
