Obituary

Robert L. Purkey, formerly of Bloomdale, Ohio left this earth on December 23, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Fairfield, Ohio.
Bob was born on July 6, 1937 in Bloomdale, Ohio to Kenneth and Jettie (Whipple) Purkey.  He married Barbara Ann Walls on November 16, 1959. She preceded him in death on November 12, 2013.  The couple were the parents of six children, Michael (deceased), Robin Bassett, Findlay, Ohio, Gregg (deceased)
Kelley (deceased), Shawn (Tammy) Venice, Fl. and Heather (Danny) Wells, Cincinnati, Ohio.  Bob was the proud Grandpa to 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is survived by one brother, Doug of Findlay, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his sisters Carol and Eileen.
He had been living in Fairfield, Ohio following the passing of his Buddy, Barbara. Bob loved the Lord, his family and friends, his country, corny Dad jokes, silly songs and babies. He never met a stranger and had a kind word and a smile for everyone. He was a good man.
Bob was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from Atlas Crankshaft following 30+ years of service. He last attended Winton Road First Church of God, Fairfield, Ohio.
Private services will be held at Zettler Funeral Home in Fairfield.  Interment will take place at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN. at a later date.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Mercy Fairfield Hospital who provided compassionate care to Bob and his family during his final days. And a special thank you to his dog, Gracie, who was his faithful companion for the past several years.
