Obituary

THOMIN, Robert (Bob) age 87 of Hamilton, Ohio died Sunday September 2, 2012 in his home surrounded by his family. Born in Hamilton on December 24, 1924 to George and Lula (McClung) Thomin, he grew up in Lindenwald. A devout Christian, he was a member of St. Peter's Church in Trenton, Ohio. He served in the US Army during WWII.

Bob began his career at family owned Linden Lumber Company. A visionary entrepreneur, he was involved with many small real estate ventures. Informally trained as an architect, he designed and built many local buildings, including the home he resided in for 57 years. He was a local history buff and people enjoyed visiting the restored log cabin, barn, and animals on his property. He supported many local artists and had eclectic tastes in art and sculpture. Adventurous would be an understatement to describe Bob. He was a world traveler and shared many adventures with family and his companion, Bettie, including skydiving, riding a Harley, and driving to Alaska three times, all within the last years of his life. Bob touched the lives of everyone he met.

Survivors include sons, Howard (Nancy) and David (Josy) Thomin; daughters, Gail (Mike) Heitz, Cheryl Barrett, and Amy Gross; their mother, Peggy Thomin; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren, with two on the way; and nephew, Ward Trembly.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Trembly, and his companion Bettie DeHaven.
