ALEXANDER, Ronald L. age 77 of Hamilton passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2019, at his home after a long and courageous battle from complications from systemic lupus. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on June 10, 1942, the son of August Christopher and Ruby Opal (Wilson) Alexander and was a 1960 graduate of Garfield High School. On July 15, 1967, in St. Peter Church he married Gloria J. Zettler. Mr. Alexander was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years retiring in 2000 while serving as a union officer for 20 of those 34 years. He attended many of the National Conventions of the Letter Carriers held across the country as a delegate. Ron was a Life Member of The National Association of Letter Carriers. Over the years he served in various capacities in volunteer organizations. He served as a rescue SCUBA diver for the Civil Defense, Red Cross volunteer, Boy Scout leader, Lions club, Bingo caller volunteer for St. Joseph school and Knights of Columbus. He was a 3 rd degree knight of the Father Butler Council #968 and a 4 th degree knight of the Father Butler Assembly #814.
He was an avid bowler and had lifelong enjoyment of camping and hiking with his family and friends. He was passionate about gardening, woodworking, stained glass, and oil painting. He enjoyed all types of music and reading.
He was a long standing member of St. Joseph Church.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria; three children and seven grandchildren, Christopher (Cheryl) Alexander children – Courtney, Corey and Connor, Craig (Karen) Alexander children – Ryan, Ronnie and Katie, and Kevin (Sandy) Alexander children – Nick and Josh. His love of family was a priority. He led by example.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Pat Tidwell, grandson Connor Alexander, his nieces Cindy Daniels, Mary Beth Beckman and nephew Michael Zettler.
Prayers will be offered at 11:00am Friday in the Zettler Funeral home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am Friday in St. Joseph Church. Visitation will be from 5-8:00pm Thursday at the funeral home with K of C services at 7:00pm. Entombment will be in St. Stephen Mausoleum. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Joseph Church. A celebration of Life will take place Friday following the services at Pohlman Family event center (previously known as Colombia Bowling Lanes) 954 Pyramid Hill Blvd, Hamilton, OH 45013
