THOMPSON, Ruby Elizabeth (Clark) "Betty", age 96, of Hamilton, died peacefully Friday evening, June 18, 2010 at Woodland Country Manor. She was born January 20, 1914 in Clarksville, Texas, the daughter of Robert E. Lee and Martha Novella (fiveash) Clark. A "self-made" woman, Betty left her hometown and moved to Dallas at age 18, where she worked as a nanny and a Civilian Transportation Agent for the Air Force during World War II. On December 21, 1945, she married Private Elmer Glenn Thompson. Moving to Hamilton in the mid 1940's, Betty was a devoted wife and mother of four. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings (Lee, Jay, Ethel, Josephine, and Margaret), children (Markie, and Jinx) and great granddaughter (Casey). She is survived by her son, Clark (Linda) Thompson and her daughter Tommie (Larry) Milillo. She also leaves behind four grandchildren—Clarissa, Clark Lee (Mandy), Glenn (Tracey), Linsey—five great grandchildren—Clarinda, Kelly, Nicholas, Madison, and Paige—and one great-great granddaughter—Avrianna. Visitation to be from 10-11 AM Tuesday, June 22, 2010 followed by funeral services at 11 AM at Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. with Chaplain Galen Hoffmann officiating.
