PROFFITT, Russell L., age 68 of Crittenden, Kentucky, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 in St. Elizabeth Hospice Center, Edgewood, Kentucky. He was born in London, Kentucky on August 23, 1942 the son of Rovie and Wilma (Cornett) Proffitt and was a 1960 graduate of Hamilton High School. On July 13, 1979 in Hamilton, Ohio he married Helen A. Rupp. Russell had worked as a truck Driver for USF Holland Motor Express, retiring in 1998. He worked for Consortium Companies from 2003 until the present time. A member of the E.T. Carson Lodge and Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati, and he also was a member of the Princeton Pike Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Helen, three children, Marcella Dean (Proffitt), Russell (Valinda) Proffitt, and Robert (Cristina) Walter; twelve grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Proffitt, a sister, Willa Dean Patterson; a brother-in-law, Clarence J. Rupp; numerous nieces, nephews, and many treasured friends as well as his "Work" family.

Besides his parents Rovie and Wilma Proffitt, he was also preceded in death by his in-laws, Clarence and Mary Rupp.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Friday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. with Pastor Barry Clardy officiating, followed by burial in Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30-2:00pm Friday in the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to a local animal shelter or a charity of donor's choice.
