BECKMAN, Ruth Ann age 87 of Hamilton died Monday, January 13, 2014, at Bradford Place (formerly Schroder Manor). She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on October 27, 1926, the daughter of Frank J. and Clara Ann (Dornberger) Hessler, and was a 1944 graduate of Notre Dame High School. In 1972, Ruth graduated from Miami University. On April 3, 1948,in St. Ann Church, she married Fred G. Beckman and he preceded her in death on December 14, 1995. Mrs. Beckman was employed as an office worker at Hamilton Foundry and later Southwestern Ohio Steel. She later worked as a business education teacher at Badin High School for 16 years, retiring in 1986. Ruth was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, and also was a volunteer for St. Raphael Social Services, Meals on Wheels, Mercy Hospital, and Schroder Manor gift shop.
Survivors include her daughter, Anne (Tom) Roesch of Edmonds, Washington; three grandchildren, Sarah, Leonard, and Sana Roesch; a sister, Mary Lou Cox; two sisters-in-law, Hilda and Shirley Hessler; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Fred, she was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Harold, Robert, Lawrence, Ralph, and Frank Hessler; a sister, Dolores Motzer; three sisters-in-law, Lavina, Frances, and Kathleen Hessler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 am Friday in the Bradford Place Chapel, 1302 Millville Ave, Hamilton, OH 45013, followed by burial in St. Stephen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 am Friday at Bradford Place. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Stephen T. Badin High School Scholarship Fund or the Alzheimer's Association.
