GETZ, Thelma A. age 98 of Hamilton died Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Mercy Franciscan at Schroder. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on January 17, 1913, the daughter of Christ and Anna (O'Neil) Maier, and attended Hamilton parochial Schools.

On November 24, 1936, she married Walter L. Getz at St. Joseph Church, Hamilton OH, and spent 59 years together. She leaves to cherish her memory, two children: Ann (Thomas) McGrath of Fairfield OH, and Walter (Linda) Getz of Hamilton OH.; two devoted granddaughters Cassie (Aaron) Fleckenstein of Hamilton OH and Gretchen (Paul) Goldhammer of Los Angeles CA. Two precious great grandchildren who brightened Thelma's life -- Dylan and Addyson Fleckenstein of Hamilton OH. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Edna Maier Lowry.

Thelma's life was spent helping others and devoting herself to family. Her membership in a bridge club resulted in countless hours of companionship as "the girls" would spend time planning events for their families for over forty years.

Known for her cooking skills and hospitality, many family and friends were seated at her formal dining table to enjoy the tasty food of her simple cuisine.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30am Tuesday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. with Fr. Michael Pucke officiating, followed by entombment in St. Stephen Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 8:30-9:30am Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Julie Billiart Parish 224 Dayton St. Hamilton, OH 45011.
