HUNTER, Thomas M. age 83 of Fairfield, died Wednesday, March 8, 2006 in Hospice of Hamilton. Tom was born in Columbus, Ohio on March 16, 1922 and in 1948 earned a B.S. Degree in Aeronautical Engineering, from Ohio State University. Mr. Hunter was a B-24 pilot serving in the 15th Air Force during World War II, and continued this love of flying throughout his life. On February 14, 1944, in Montgomery, Alabama, he married Carolyn Zumstein. He was a retired Aeronautical Engineer for General Electric Aircraft Engines. He was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Tom was a person with many hobbies and interests, but none were more important to him than his family. Together he and his cherished wife of 62 years, Carolyn, derived their greatest pleasure in the accomplishments of their children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; 5 children and their spouses: Thomas Michael (Debbie), Brentwood TN; Christine "Kippy" (Dr. Gerald) Gille, Fairfield, OH;
Susan ( Dan) Schulze, Towson, MD; Steven (Tina) Hunter, Atlanta, GA; Michelle (James) Castle, Winchester, KY.; twelve grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, George B. Hunter and Jack A. Hunter
Besides his mother, Ruth (Howard) Hunter, he was also preceded in death by a Granddaughter, Lynsey Michelle Hunter; and brother, William B. Hunter
The family would like to thank Fairfield Medical Group, especially Dr. Chris Meier, and the excellent nursing staff of Mercy Hospital for their care and concern during Tom's recent illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM Saturday, in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1285 Main St, Hamilton, Ohio, 45013, with Pastor Kevin Jud officiating, followed by burial in Rose Hill Burial Park.
