Morton, Velma K. age 96 of Hamilton, died Friday February 6, 2009 in Mercy Franciscan at Schroder. She was born on August 10, 1912, in Hamilton, Ohio the daughter of Alva and Flora (Pauley) Penwell and attended Hamilton Public Schools. On August 10, 1934 in Covington, Kentucky she married Leroy Morton and he preceded her in death on January 20, 1991. Mrs. Morton was member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, and worked for many years as a volunteer at the Fort Hamilton Hospital Gift Shop.

Survivors include a granddaughter, Cezanne-Cheri A. Lee; a sister, Jean Wells; Nieces and nephews, Howard (Joyce) Wells, Pamela (Phil) Vasey, Catherine (Jack) Leahigh, Russell (Marilyn) Natali, Alfred (Irene) Natali Jr., Rita (Denny) Willhoite and Katie Smith.

Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Leroy Morton Jr.; two brothers, Alva "Bud" and Russell Penwell; a sister Margie Natali.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Monday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. with Pastor Joe Tassell officiating, followed by burial in Arlington Memorial Gardens.
