Obituary

MEIER, Vercie, age 87, of Hamilton, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, in Vitas Hospice in Ft. Hamilton Hospital. She was born in Champaign, Illinois on Feb. 7, 1919, the daughter of Hugh and Bertha ( Wilder) Callahan. She married Harold Meier on Nov. 2, 1935, in Richmond, Indiana and he preceded her in death on April 21, 2003. She was a fifty year member of the Park Ave. United Methodist Church and the Ft. Hamilton Chapter of The Order of the Eastern Star, where she had been secretary for 25 years. She volunteered at Ft. Hamilton Hospital, had been a scout leader, and was a member of the Rainbow Garden Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Helen Meier, of Hamilton, and Linda Garner, of North Glenn, Colorado; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; a sister, Virginia Booker.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Jean Bonekowski.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday in the Proeschel-Crawford-Zettler Funeral Home, 547 Main Street, with Rev. Bob Klingel officiating, followed by burial in Rose Hill Burial Park.
