Obituary

SCHURFRANZ, Virginia S. age 100 formerly of Hamilton, Ohio and in the most recent years of Bradenton, Florida passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at Heritage Park Care Center in Bradenton, Florida. She was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada on April 12, 1913, the daughter of Albert and Sylvia (Lieboner) Lacker. In 1970, in Hamilton, Ohio she married Robert H. Schurfranz and he preceded her in death on August 25, 1984. Virginia was a secretary for twenty eight years for Hamilton Autographic Company retiring in 1970. She lived in Hamilton most of her life until moving to Florida where she was surrounded by the Schurfranz families. She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Bradenton, Florida, and a lifelong member of the Delta Theta Thi Sorority, chapter Miami University of Hamilton, Ohio. She was a dearly loved Aunt Ginny to three generations of nieces and nephews touching their lives with her kind and gentle ways. She loved to sew, knit, crochet and anything using her hands and her family benefited from her creations through the years.

She leaves behind her brother Allen (Bud) Lacker of Hamilton, her sister-in-law Betty Schurfranz of Bradenton, and nieces and nephews Patricia (Van) Miller, Pamela (David) Burkhart, Robert (Patricia) Lacker, Sally (Todd) Stark, Rae Ann (Louis) Baumann, Dale (Peggy) Schurfranz, Ellen (Bob) Zihlman, Lynn Hillman, Jane Woods, Sherrie Smith, Richard (Barbara) Sterling, Gail McWilliams, Joan Schurfranz, Louise Schurfranz, Jean Steed, Patty Holland, Jim Schurfranz and many other extended family members. She also will be missed by her special friend, Vera Willis, who visited with Virginia daily for many years.

Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lacker of Hamilton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. with Rev. Edwin R. Beck officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be from 1-2:00pm Saturday in the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to a charity of donor's choice. Online register book available at www.zettlerfuneralhome.com
