BOWLING, Walter age 82 of Fairfield died Friday, May 22, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Creekville, Kentucky on July 28, 1926 the son of Shelby and Mittie (Langdon) Bowling. On October 24, 1950 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana he married Mary Kay Barnickle. Walter was a Journeyman Pipe Fitter for over Fifty years, retiring from Ford Motor Company in 1989. He was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, Ben Franklin Lodge #719, Monkey Mutual Aid Society, AMVETS # 1983, Eagles # 3986, and the Plumbers and Pipe Fitter Union Local # 392.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Kay; three children, Dr. Don Bowling of Alpharetta, GA; Gary Bowling of Dayton, Ohio; Robyn (Dr. Mike) Remotigue of Starkville, Mississippi; three grandchildren, Shelby Bowling; Aaron and Ethan Remotigue; four sisters, Kizzie Feltner, Beatrice Browning, Nora Fox, and Nancy Taylor.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Tolman, Heron, Edgar, and Troy Bowling; and one sister, Mary Bowling.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday in St. Mark United Methodist Church, 4601 Fairfield Ave., with Pastor Gary Wheeler and Wes Souders officiating, followed by burial in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 pm Thursday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. and again from 10-10:30 am Friday in the funeral home. Masonic services will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday in the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Mark United Methodist Church. Online register book available at www.zettlerfuneralhome.com
