Lindsay, Walter W. Jr, age 79, passed on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 3:30 in the afternoon at Berkeley Square medical unit after a lengthy illness. His son Scott attended his death.
Walter was born on December 2, 1928 to Walter W. Lindsay, Sr. and Matilda Schulz Lindsay in Hamilton, Ohio. The senior Lindsays lived and raised their family in the east end of Hamilton in the little pink house on Kahn Avenue.
In 1947, Walter Jr. married Margaret Pettit and they enjoyed 60 happy years of marriage. Margaret and Walter were great friends who also fell in love. They took great joy in raising their children, fixing up their house and gathering and traveling with friends. Together they had a rich full life.
Walt was a self-taught man, and he had many skills: he was a salesman; he was also our painter, plumber, roofer, and electrician. But truly, Walt's great gift was the laughter and joy that would follow him into any room, and for that he will be most sorely missed.
Walt leaves behind his wife, Margaret Pettit Lindsay; his daughter, Lauren Lindsay Benoit and husband Greg Benoit of Waterford, CT, and son Donald Scott Lindsay and wife Connie Schawann Lindsay of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren: Max Benoit, Brooke Lindsay Benoit, Bryce Lindsay, and Sara Lindsay. He also leaves a sister Evelyn Lindsay Senger, brother Robert Lindsay and sister and brother-in-law, Elnora and James Stone of Akron, and countless relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Friday in the Park Avenue United Methodist Church , 800 Park Avenue., with Pastor Barbara Dafler officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00pm Thursday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave.. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to a favorite charity.
