WEISS, Walton E. age 96, of Fairfield, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on August 29, 1915 the son of Edward and Anna Weiss, grew up on North 'F' St., graduated from Hamilton Catholic High School and Hamilton Business College. After service in the US Army during WWII, he married Dolores Hartmann at St. Ann's Church. He started his own Painting Contracting business and meticulously painted hundreds of homes. He served many years as usher and altar boy at St. Peter's and later attended Queen of Peace and Sacred Heart Church. His life was devoted to home, family, and his Catholic faith. He also loved hard work, his Army buddies, Sundays in the park, the Reds, model trains, cards, and always the dinner table. In his later years, with the help of the great staff at Sterling House of Fairfield, he coped with the ravages of age with dignity and grace.

He is survived by his six children, Robert Weiss (Bonnie) and Richard Weiss (Julie) of Fairfield, James Weiss (Jane) of Cincinnati, Mary Ellen Weiss of Columbus, Dr. Joseph Weiss and Patricia Fehlig, both of Greensboro, NC; eight grandchildren, Amy Fehlig Kendall (Greg) of Mason, Jennifer Fehlig (James) Bender and Eric Weiss of Columbus, Shane Weiss, Derek Weiss, Erin Weiss and Adam Weiss of Fairfield, and Mark Weiss of New York City; six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 64 years, Dolores; two sisters, Rita Livingston and Jeanette Schellenbach; an infant brother, Mark Weiss.

Prayers will be offered at 10:00am Saturday in the Zettler Funeral Home 2646 Pleasant Ave. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am Saturday in Sacred Heart Church, with Fr. Larry Tharp celebrant. Visitation will be from 9 -10am Saturday, in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery.
