HILLMAN, Wilbert B. "Red" age 89, of Hamilton, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015, at Berkeley Square Retirement Community after a short illness. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of Wilbert J. and Mary A. (Buchman) Hillman. Mr. Hillman was a graduate of St. Ann Elementary School and a 1945 graduate of Hamilton Catholic High School. He graduated one semester early and joined the U.S. Army, 604th Quartermasters in the South Pacific theatre during WWII, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. On April 23, 1949, at St. Ann Church, he married Betty J. Wooten, she preceded him in death on April 23, 2004, their 55th anniversary. Mr. Hillman was a machinist for Hamilton Autographic Register Company and later Hamilton Tool Company, retiring in 1991. Red was a member of St. Ann Church/Sacred Heart Parish Region. Red enjoyed a trip to Washington DC as part of "The Honor Flight" escorted by Roger Reynolds and sponsored by the Butler County Auditor's Staff. He was a member of the VFW 1069, the UAW Local 674, and the Knights of Columbus Father Butler Council.
Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer J. (Rick) LoBuono; daughter-in-law, Gina Hillman; three grandchildren, Christina LoBuono (Joe) Munafo, Meghan Hillman (Brian) Lynch, and Joseph Drayer; two great-grandchildren, Macsen and Mia Munafo; and a dear companion, Toni Chaney.
Beside his wife Betty, he was also preceded in death by his son, Gregory D. Hillman in 2002; brother Earl Hillman and sister Mary Ann Gaynor.
Prayers will be offered at 9:30AM Tuesday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM Tuesday in St. Ann Church with Fr. Larry Tharp celebrant. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be from 8:30-9:30AM Tuesday in the funeral home.
