SPEGAL SR, William Leslie, "Bill" age 78 of Camden, Ohio passed away on Monday, May 1st, 2017, at Hospice of Hamilton surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on February 8, 1939, in Dayton, Ohio the son of Sophia E. and Russell W. Spegal. Bill was a Marine Veteran, a former fireman/paramedic in Oxford, Ohio, a park ranger at Hueston Woods State Park, a Deputy Sheriff, a Camden Police Officer, and finally retired in 1993, from Miami University Police Department. He always had a generous heart to help others. He met the love of his life while working at Miami University as Beth was a student in the early 80's. It was grounds for immediate dismissal to fraternize with the students and he always claimed, "I didn't fraternize with her, I married her!" His love and passion of animals especially horses, led to his interest in Harness racing and earning his trainer's license. After retirement, he enjoyed 10 years of raising foals to be able to race and making a few of them to the winners circle.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Beth Ann (McCoy) Spegal; five children, William L. Jr (Ann) of Florida, Elizabeth Ann Spegal, Julia C. Morris, Patrick J. Spegal of Illinois, and Joshua W. Bartles of Florida; Bill has 8 grandchildren, Gregory D. Morris, Lee W., Melissa M., Harley D., Dallas W., Kaylee M., Cole W., and Mason P. Spegal; one great-grandson, Shawn Spegal.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sherry L. Spegal.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Saturday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. Visitation will be from 9:30am-11:00am Saturday in the funeral home.
